Mom Who Cares About All Children

story:

I am a mom, but my son is 16 years old. He is a great kid and doing well in school. He has a few good friends and that is by choice. The friends he does have are in the foster care system in the state of New Jersey. The are good kids or they would not be allowed to be around my son.

The state has a thing about if they stay with a family to long they have to move to another location or go into an independent living situation. At 16years of age are they kidding? Why on earth would you put a 16 year old on there own? Right now that is what they are trying to do to 2 of his friends. It is breaking my heart to see these kids go through this.

I ask Gregg, one of Robbie's friends, how he felt about being taken out of a house he has been in for 6years, and would he miss them and he said he would. The system gave him some options.  One is to move in with maybe other troubled kids in independent living.  They find you a place to live with other kids and check on you once a month. You have to find work to support yourself. It is really sad for me to think a child who goes to school is in no trouble and has friends " other than school grades not up to par " can be taken out of that and put into the streets to turn out bad. Gregg has told me that has happened to kids he knows.

That is sad very sad. We as adults need to help these kids. We need to give them a chance for a good life. In New Jersey I think that instead of paying for them to turn out good, they'd rather pay for them to be in a prison. Fran from Rahway NJ A person and MOM that cares PLEASE HELP!!!!
