My Jelly Beans Story

name: Sue

date entered: 27/06/2008

country: USA

story:

On May 17 2008 My little Adrain was born at 30 weeks. She was doing very well for the first 2 weeks.

One Saturday morning I came in to see her in the NICU and they told me that she had some belly dissention, that she had bowel loops and that she needed to poop.  After giving her laxatives she had a very small bloody stool. They did x-ray after x-ray and told me she was suffering from a premmie disease called NEC and that hopefully antibiotics would help.

Well 24 hours went by and they didn't help and she was swelling more and more and getting worse and worse. Finally I asked the Doctors, "Are you going to let my child explode before you do something about it?" and they called the surgery team down and the surgeon said they needed to go in and look and see what was going on.

They discovered that she has Hirshbrungs and they pulled her bowel to the skin and she has a stoma and later on they are going to do a pull through.  She is doing well at this time but we went threw a rough spot.
