Well where do I start?  My LITTLE McKenzie...at first she wasn't so little, she was born at 38 weeks weighing 10 pound 2.  She was so fat she couldn't open her eyes for the first three days.  She was a leach; boy could she suck! I had bleeding grazed nipples before day 5 and was in so much pain feeding her.  The lactation consultant told me she was a nipple feeder and would probably always be one.

Sure enough on Tuesday of this week I was told she nipple feeds and here I was thinking I had thrush, when in fact it was because of the way she had been feeding.  We have spent the last three weeks in and out of Gold Coast Hospital because of vomiting and poor weight gain.  She has only gained 400 grams above birth weight, no matter how many times I would feed her - bottles, breast, you name it - I have been trying to get the weight on her.

I was also informed that she has reflux which is why she spends most days crying and loses half her feeds. So we went on Losec to help with the pain. On top of that she suffers colic too.

I was not prepared for all this as my first child was easy. My family are all in New Zealand and my partner works in WA. So it's just myself and my two girls.  It was my nurse who told me about this site and thought that there was no harm in trying to meet people who are experiencing the same problems.   Hopefully I will make some friends who know and understand what I am going through....
