DefaultBUb's first fall

I collected Bree from family day care and the the carer was out the front with "THE" look on her face I knew she had afall or some thing had happened. Yeah she fell oalright from standing at the table on to a truck. WOW her side of face is so badly bruised it is making me feel sick every time I look at her.

The carer loves her to bits and feels so horriable. Bree cried when I dropped her off today which is somethingthat she hasn't do before so off to work I go crying of cause. I get to pick her up and she is laughing and cuddling the carer didn't even want me. I now have the guilts am I doning the right thing with day care and going back to work I do love the break from her. It is so confusing!!!!

Defaultthe guilts

feeling for you breemummy http://www.mothersbeheard.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif- i know from experience that it is just THE WORST feeling when u find out your little one has hurt themselves and u haven't been there for them (i'll probably have my own story soon enough with DS2 http://www.mothersbeheard.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif). but she's at an age where she's gettin gmuch more mobile and she could've done the same at home while u were cooking tea, on the phone, chatting here http://www.mothersbeheard.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif....... If the break from her helps you feel more tolerant etc is sending her there that bad? I cannot believe how easily my two can hurt themselves in a blink of an eye.

Smilespeak of the devil!

Just as I was sitting here about to start typing a response, I heard the familiar cry from the kitchen. So I ran out and here's DD sitting on the kitchen floor holding her toe. She had stubbed it and then fell on her bum.http://www.mothersbeheard.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif

All I could think was, if I didn't let her run around barefoot! Or if I had of been out there with her! Or if she had been in bed already!

The fact is, if she didn't stub her toe, she may have bumped her head, or leg, or nose......... She's 16m.o and she is still finding her feet so to speak. She falls over and she bumps into things. I feel that it is part of growing up.

DS fell and hit his face on a table corner whilst in child care as a 4 yr old.
http://www.mothersbeheard.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif I felt so bad that I wasn't there for him to comfort him so we sat and had a
1/2 hr cuddle when we got home and I told him how sorry I was that I wasn't there for him when it happened but that I was here now if he wanted to cuddle.

Now he is in Grade 2 and if he hurts himself at school, he tells me when he gets home, I check that he's okay and we have a cuddle.

You can't always be there for them and as long as they are in the care of a good person, you know they will have the support and comfort they need when it happens.

And you can always give them a BIG cuddle when you get home.

The occasional 'OUCH' present doesn't hurt either!

You girls are right again of cause. I know deep down that she will survive with out me and I like the owch pressie idea. She is so independent and today we went to try a play grp of cause straight to the trampoline she goes does she know that she is only 9 mths old not 2 yrs. She fell like three times there it was so funny. She is so quick at climbing and getting around that it happens so quick.
