story:

After falling pregnant with my first child naturally, it was hard to come to terms with the fact that we were unable to have anymore children without help. This was even harder for my husband, as it made him question himself as a man, and he was unable to talk about the assisted pregnancy to anyone as he did not feel comfortable. I knew that I wanted more children but had said that I was happy with one, just to save myself from all of the comments of "You should have more children", "Don't leave it to much longer", and "What's wrong with you?"  The "What's wrong with you?" comment was always directed at me as the mother.

After five years of trying to fall pregnant on our own, we met with a wonderful doctor who said that he would be able to help us with a technique called "IUI"; it is less invasive than IVF. We were told that it would take up to five cycles to fall pregnant, and then we only had a 12% chance of this happening. After all of the testing we decided to give it a try and then decide how long we would stay with the treatment. After the first round we were told to come back in five weeks to see if were successful.

I did not need five weeks to know this.  I think I knew within the first four weeks that we were pregnant, and early this year we had our second beautiful baby girl so it all worked out well.  Every step of the way it seemed right and meant to be. I'm thankful that I had this chance to have more children, and I could not imagine what it would be like to be without her in my life now.
