Emotional Rollercoaster after ART

name: Anonymous

date entered: 19/02/2008

country: Australia

story:

Wow the 2001 study is certainly in tune with my experience. I had two children by ICSI, one in 2000 and one in 2003. The first year after my number one child was quiet an anxious time as a new mother. I too spent a week in a parenting centre mastering feed and sleep routines.

After my second child I experienced post natal depression and anxiety. I do wonder if the hormonal treatment that accompanies the ICSI program contributed to my emotional state after both children, and feel that the ART providers don't provide enough information on the post natal impact on emotional well being for women who have undergone assisted conception.
